In the first half of the 19th century, British noblemen had begun wintering in Italy, including on the beautiful isle of Sardinia. The clothing they wore was more suited to the cold, damp British climate than to this temperate paradise. Employing local tailors to make lightly constructed clothing more befitting the local weather helped to begin a tradition of light and deft Italian clothing. The tailoring firm of Castangia was born of this tradition. This family owned business began in 1850 and continues to this day creating some of the best quality tailoring in the world. Handstitching each piece from Italy's finest cloth insures a balance and feel unique to Castangia.
